Just a quick note to say that my girlfriend Laura & I are now, (as of around 2pm yesterday), officially engaged!!!!!

We were in London celebrating her 30th birthday (also yesterday as it happens) and we were up on the London Eye, and when we reached the top, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me, and she said yes!!

I will do another post with more detail, but this post is just a short one as I am almost asleep having just gotten back home from London and I have to go back to work tomorrow :(

Hope anyone who reads this is well?

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for now!!

A great weekend, met a number of friends, and some new people at a Gather in London on Saturday where we all went to the Natural History museum (22 of us!) It was fun, even though i didn't get to see the dinosaurs because the queue for the dinosaur exhibit was huge! Also didn't get to see the blue whale either, but that can be done some other time.
The only really annoying thing was finding out that the giant squid exhibit was not in the regular museum section, but part of a "Behind the scenes" tour, which is fully booked until April!! That was one of the reasons why we all chose the Natural History museum over the science museum :( Unfortunately we didin't find out about this until it was too late. Still, a good time was had by all, even though we were late arriving because most of the Picadilly line was closed for maintenance.
After we left the museum at around 5.30, it was decided to go for food in one of the pubs in Gloucester Road. We found one and managed to get all of us inside, although most had to stand as there were not enough seats for everyone. The pub was very loud though, and crowded, so we moved on and found a nice pub called The Hereford which was quieter, less crowded, and had rather more room, so we all sat down at the tables and checked out the menu, (and for four of us - the guest ale: A very nice ale called Batemans Valiant). Everyone ordered food. i had the lasagne, which was delicious!!!
After the pub everyone said their goodbyes, and a small group of us travelled back to my friend Tal's place to crash for the night.
Sunday, got up nice and late, and did nothing most of the afternoon, then headed into London to the Forum in Kentish Town with Tal, G'leth, and Azhreia, to see Lacuna Coil in concert. We joined the seemingly neverending queue which ran around the side of the building, along the road to the next building, then doubled back on itself!
Eventually we got in, and queued up for the merchandise stand, and bought t-shirts, then headed to the bar for a drink and watched the support band, a band called "Deathstar", who were actually very good, and put on a good show, and made me laugh when the lead singer claimed that they were the Victoria Beckham of music! They actually had a fair amount of fans supporting them all dressed up in the t-shirts and some of them wearing the same hats as the lead singer did.
Then it was the turn of Lacuna Coil, and they came out to massive applause, and put on an amazing show, showcasing some of the songs from their forthcoming album, which will be out in April! (i can't wait, especially after hearing the new songs!)
They also did an amazing cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence", which everybody seemed to really like. After the band had finished we were just chatting and putting our coats, gloves and scarves back on before the trek out into the cold London night, when a camera crew, who had been filming some of the concert, came over to ask us what we thought of the concert, and specifically asked a few questions of G'leth and Azhreia, and were especially interested when Azhreia mentioned that she had just come over from Australia to see the band. We kind of expect that to appear in some promo for the band, or hopefully on a dvd at some point!
Got back to Tal's late and had a nice sleep, then got up this morning, and wrote this entry!

Will be heading back home today to reformat my computer and re-install everything, as it kind of...had an issue Thursday night, meaning i can only boot up in Safe Mode. Still, at least i have my trusty ancient laptop to write this entry.

i may update again later when i'm back home, and my computer is back in full working order...
joeyeah_right: (Default)
Well, i guess i should update this thing.

...waits for those people who have fainted to regain consciousness...

i don't know what to say...i never really do when i try to update this thing. i suppose i have had news enough for an update, but i never consider it exciting enough to write down, so i tend to not bother.

Ok, where to start. i have been promoted at work. My boss handed in his resignation, and i and another person applied internally for his job, and i got it. Now i am the Manager of the datacapture department of the company i work for. Pay increase = good! The fact that i can now put "Manager" on my C.V (resumé) = good too! More responsibility = not so good, but it's ok so far. i have been in the job for nearly 4 weeks, although for the first 2 weeks my boss was showing me the ropes before he left, so i was able to find out a lot of stuff about the job. It's not like i was just dumped in at the deep end, so that's ok.

What else...Hmm...

Well, i spent last saturday with my girlfriend Laura in London. We went around Notting Hill (which is a part of London i have never been before, so that was good, also the fact that there are a lot of shops which sell cheap second hand DVDs, videos, and books/comics, so we spent a lot of time in these places :)

The only hard part is that Laura (my girlfriend) lives in Lewes, and i live in Cirencester - which is 120 miles apart, so we don't get to see each other often, but on the plus side, we make the most of the time we get to spend together, whether it is when i travel to Lewes, or when we meet in London.

Umm... Oh, i bought another guitar from Ebay recently (6 weeks ago), and it is SO amazing, i LOVE the sound of it. So that takes my tally of guitars to six now (one acoustic - an ovation copy, one Peavy 5-string bass, and 4 electric guitars- 1 Fender telecaster, 1 stratocaster copy, 1 cheap BC Rich Warlock, and now my new baby, my De-Armond M75-T which looks great and sounds great and i love it!)

Anyway, whilst everyone is falling asleep reading my boring update, i shall go.

i'll hopefully write another update soon...well, sometime this decade.
joeyeah_right: (Default)
Well, here comes my seemingly yearly update *grins*
Although this is only really an update for the past week.

Anyway, last week i won an Ebay auction, and this is what i won:
Click if you want to see what i won )

In other news, last saturday i went to London with my girlfriend Laura and my good friend Angie (who was the one who introduced me to Laura, and for which i am VERY grateful), and we went to the London MCM Expo in the Excel Centre, where Amber Benson was once again appearing to do a signing. Unfortunately this time there was a huge manga section in the expo, and also Leonard Nimoy was appearing (Spock from Star Trek), so as you can imagine, the queues were incredible, but after 2 hours we got in, but the place was completely packed. Angie went off to see Amber Benson's mother, as Angie has been selling some personalised merchandise on ebay for Amber's mother to raise funds for Amber's new film, in which Amber is once again writing, producing, directing and acting in (Amber always travels everywhere with her mother). Laura and i went about looking at the stalls as there were huge queues for signings and photoshoots (all of which cost money, and you had to get a ticket number as well), so we didn't do any of the autograph hunting. Instead we looked at all of the merchandise for sale, and watched a couple of the talks given by some of the actors who were at the event, including most of the main cast of Enterprise. Afterwards, towards the end of the day we searched for Angie, and she was chatting to Amber's Mother again, and i thought i would get close to the people queuing for Amber's autograph, and see if i could get a picture, but Amber spotted me, and recognising me from the last Expo (last November, and back then she remembered me from when i first met her at a signing in 2001), and she called out "Hey you! what are you doing here? How are you?" so i walked past the people queueing, and chatted to Amber for a few minutes, talking about how she was and how the new film was going, and then i asked her for a pic, if that was possible, and she asked if i wanted the pic to be the 2 of us, and of course i said yes, so i handed my camera to one of the event staff near Amber, and had this pic taken of myself and Amber Benson: http://www.okonah.co.uk/joe-amber-smallpic.jpg

So that's the update - all in all, a good week, and now i have Thursday and Friday off work this week, as i have 2 days holiday carried over from last year that i couldn't take at the time, and am having them this week, and it is a welcome break from work :)

Hope everyone who reads this is well?

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for now!

You scored as Chaotic Good. A Chaotic Good person is someone who has little intrinsic respect for laws or authority, seeing them as insufficient to sustain what's right. These people work according to their own moral compass which, while good, is not necessarily always aligned with that of society. Despite their chaotic tendancies, these people are good at heart.

Some may call you bookish, and mean it in a bad
way.....but we know better! Delighting in
books, and very likely with more tomes than
clothes, you amaze others with your knowledge
of the obscure and the common.

Books alone cannot a life make, but you know this
as well....you love having chats with others
who love words and ideas as much as yourself!

Can I play in your library? Please??
